William Vann (conductor)

A multiple-prize winning conductor and accompanist, William performs with a host of major singers and instrumentalists across the world. His discography includes recordings with Albion Records, Champs Hill Records, Navona Records and SOMM.
He is an Associate of the RAM, a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, a conductor and vocal coach at the Oxenfoord International Summer School, the Director of Music at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, the Assistant Conductor of the English Chamber Choir and the founder and Artistic Director of the London English Song Festival. On 3rd April 2019 he makes his Royal Festival Hall debut conducting Parry’s long-neglected oratorio Judith, which he will subsequently record for Chandos Records.
Joanna Wyld (Libretto)
Joanna Wyld is an experienced editor and proofreader, and between 2001 and 2007 was Editor at Sanctuary Classics. She is currently Editor for Odradek Records. Joanna Wyld is passionate about music education. In addition to her writing and editorial work, she is a primary school music specialist and private flute teacher, and is part of a trio comprising two flutes and a piano, called Trillium
Robert Hugill (composer)
Robert Hugill is a London based composer, journalist, blogger and lecturer. Robert runs the highly regarded classical music blog, Planet Hugill.
The Gardeners is Robert’s fourth opera. His first opera Garrett was premiered at Hoxton Hall in 2001, directed by Darren Royston and conducted by Malcolm Cottle, with Damian Thantrey and Rosemary Forbes-Butler. When a Man Knows received its stage premiere in 2011 at the Bridewell Theatre, directed by Ian Caddy and conducted by David Roblou, with Dario Dugandzic and Zoe South. The Genesis of Frankenstein was premiere in 2016 at the CLF Art Cafe in Peckham by the Helios Ensemble, directed by Ella Marchment and conducted by Noah Mosley.
FifteenB Productions (Producer)
FifteenB Productions was formed by Robert Hugill in 2000, out of his performing ensemble FifteenB, to develop productions of his operas. The Gardeners will be the third of Robert’s operas which the group has presented. Garrett was staged at Hoxton Hall in 2001 with baritone Damian Thantrey in the title role and Rosemary Forbes Butler as Israfel, Malcolm Cottle conducted and Darren Royston directed, with lighting by Matt Haskins.
When a Man knows was given in concert at St John’s Waterloo in 2010, with baritone Dario Dugandzic as the Man, soprano Deborah Stoddart as the Woman, and Sarah Barham and John Beaumont as the chorus. David Roblou conducted. There was a second performance given in August 2010 as part of Tete a Tete: The Opera Festival at the Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. The group then gave the stage premiere of the opera at the Bridewell Theatre in March 2011, with Dario Dugandzic as the Man, Zoe Zouth as the Woman, and Sarah Barham and John Beaumont as the chorus. David Roblou conducted, Ian Caddy directed with lighting by Matt Haskins. The performance was recorded live and is available on Vimeo.
